To say The Jimmies are a “children’s band” would be a completely misleading statement. Sure, they make positive, hilarious songs about having messy hair when you get out of bed in the morning (”Bedhead”) and wearing a jacket to keep warm (”Cool To Be Uncool”), but The Jimmies also rock in the best power-pop way possible. Actually, “Cool To Be Uncool” is some of the best power-pop you are likely to hear this year. And singer Ashley Albert, is, well, dreamy in the way that orange push-up pops were yummy. If The Jimmies had existed when I was a child, Ashley Albert could have very been the love of my young life as opposed Kristy McNichol and Lisa Whelchel when she was a pre-Blair member of the Mickey Mouse Club. Ashley Albert is delightful and I want to take her out for ice cream. And if you are reading some sort of double entendre into that, you have some serious issues.
