
Many modern kids’ acts came to the genre as an afterthought—on the heels of a rock & roll career, say, or following the birth of a son in need of entertainment. Not so the Jimmies. The chipper New York quintet—four guys in neckties plus singer Ashley Albert—write silly, mostly upbeat songs full of broad humor and the occasional educational morsel. On the group’s new DVD, Trying Funny Stuff, the musicians present their songs both in recorded performances and in videos.
